A supplier with experience in your market is worth significantly more than a cheaper alternative who has never shipped there before.
Check Their Farmer Relationships

How is produce cooled post-harvest? How quickly does it move from packhouse to container? What temperature protocols are used for your specific produce type? Can they provide temperature data loggers with each shipment?
A supplier who cannot answer these questions clearly and confidently is a supplier whose cold chain you cannot trust.
Understand Their Compliance Knowledge
Every country has its own import requirements for fresh produce. Phytosanitary certificates, fumigation requirements, pesticide residue limits, packaging specifications, import permits. A reliable exporter knows your country's requirements inside out and handles all compliance on your behalf.
Ask them directly: what are the specific requirements for importing this product into my country? If they cannot answer with confidence, they are not the right partner.
